Self-Promotion: Poison Kiss Now Published Everywhere! (Ish)

I have an announcement here on my Wordpress blog, but the short version is that the Writings page has been updated with fresh new links! Buy my book!*

(* If you want to, and/or it sounds like your thing.)

(Obviously you don't have to!)

(Please construe my statements as enthusiastic suggestions, not orders.)

(Seriously, though, it is a good book, enjoyed by many ladies and genderqueer folk.)

(Maybe a few cis men, too. At least one that I know of.)

(Here's a really nice review that made my day.)

(Anyway, sorry to bother folks, I'll get back to work now.)

P.S. If there is a book distributor that you prefer to use that is not on the list, please let me know? I can't promise I can get in (example: Google is closed to indie authors at this time) but I can try!

Open Thread: Front Page Lobster

This three week old lobster (right) was on the front page of the local newspaper.  Jesica Waller who photographed it (left) won a visual media award from the National Science Foundation.  If you happen to get the magazine Popular Science you might have seen this photo there.

She took the picture while working on her thesis.  She's studying the effect of climate change on lobster development, with an eye toward anticipated ocean temperatures in 2100.  The outlook isn't good (when is it?) because the temperatures will likely cause lobsters to grow up fast (probably not a bad thing) and die young (totally a bad thing.)

This I know from nothing.  I needed food.  There was a Subway restaurant.  Newspapers are provided should the patrons wish to read them.  This was on the front page above the fold.

Anyway, here's a cute baby picture, and we've still got some time to try to make the world not go to hell before 2100.  Not a huge amount of time (2100 is only 84 years away and there'll need to be some lead time to make things better) but focus on the cute baby picture.  Ze's three weeks old.

Open Thread: Snow on Rocks

The rains came and washed much of the snow away. Picture from before then.

The Horse and His Boy, Chapter 4: Shasta Falls In With The Narnians

When we last left our heroes, Shasta was gawking at the Narnian group while I was hitting my head repeatedly against my desk. Let's continue that, shall we?

It was quite unlike any other party they had seen that day. The crier who went before it shouting “Way, way!” was the only Calormene in it. And there was no litter; everyone was on foot. There were about half a dozen men and Shasta had never seen anyone like them before. For one thing, they were all as fair-skinned as himself, and most of them had fair hair. And they were not dressed like men of Calormen. Most of them had legs bare to the knee. Their tunics were of fine, bright, hardy colors—woodland green, or gay yellow, or fresh blue. Instead of turbans they wore steel or silver caps, some of them set with jewels, and one with little wings on each side. A few were bare-headed. The swords at their sides were long and straight, not curved like Calormene scimitars. And instead of being grave and mysterious like most Calormenes, they walked with a swing and let their arms and shoulders go free, and chatted and laughed. One was whistling. You could see that they were ready to be friends with anyone who was friendly and didn’t give a fig for anyone who wasn’t. Shasta thought he had never seen anything so lovely in his life.

Open Thread: The weather is here

"The weather is beautiful; wish you were here," is a sort of boilerplate bare minimum cliche of a postcard message.  So of course people have been saying, "The weather is here, wish you were beautiful," for ages.  Apparently it was made into a song in 1980, which I didn't know.

Anyway, the weather is here.

A lot of the time it's hard to get pictures of snow.  Without darkness and flash it just doesn't show up, unless, you know, there's a hell of a lot of it.  (As in: to an absurd degree.)

This picture was taken at my school yesterday afternoon, but I originally decided that "The weather was here," when I took a similar picture on Monday at South Station in Boston.  So apparently the weather is in multiple heres.  Or it's following me.

Metapost: I Live, I Lurk, I Languish

Okay, I'm not languishing very much, but I couldn't think of another L word. :P

I'm here! I'm alive! I'm reading the comments and enjoying them very much. You may also note that I posted another Narnia repost today. I am going to try really hard to get a new Narnia out this week. This week has been busy.

[TW: Medical Stuff]

Specifically, January and February are just historically bad months for me. I'm dealing with medical stuff that has basically shot my short-term memory all to shit, so a friend is helping me setup extensive to-do lists with things like "bring bear to bed" because otherwise I will forget to bring my bear to bed despite the fact that I forgot the last 50 nights in a row and had to get up after settling in. And family and friends have been told to email me for literally anything they want me to do because no matter how hard they stress it in person or over the phone, I will forget if it isn't written down for me. We're adjusting and fortunately no one has been too mad with me.

Also: January and February are "gather up all your tax documents and fret about that whole indie author thing because IRS" months for me, so that's going on too. Little stuff like that. It'll be fine. I'm fine. Everything is fine.

[/TW]

Speaking of authory things, I'm trying not to spam the board with book updates, so I've revived my old Wordpress site to be a Very Mature Adult Author site. There are things there. Most of which you've already seen, but one post is new. There's also a subscribe button, and I feel a little burst of joy every time someone presses it and I get a subscription email.

Uhhh, other than that, I guess I uploaded another Undertale video. FOLLOW ME ON YOUTUBE? FOLLOW ME... EVERY WHERE? FOLLOW ME TO THE GATES OF HEAVEN, WE WILL STORM--

*ahem*

Sorry, I get carried away sometimes. Anyway! I'm here. Hi! :)
