Metapost: Regularly Scheduled Programming

Folks, I've been increasingly falling behind on the blogging front, due to health and work commitments. I still have bunches to say about Narnia and Twilight and the like, but a major issue right now is becoming time -- it takes a lot of time to craft one of these mega-posts that cover a chapter in-depth.

The solution right now seems to be to buy a little time by doing some shorter posts that probably won't be Twilight or Narnia related. I'm going to try to make sure there's a Twilight and/or Narnia at least once every two weeks, so I hope this won't be too much of a drought, but I do think the weeklies will have to back off for a short time.

I'm desperately hoping that Christmas break will allow me to catch up with a buffer a bit. We'll see how that goes. Anyway, consider this a heads-up and I do deeply apologize for the reduced scheduling.

Your health is paramount. Twilight and Narnia junkies that we are, we can wait. And we'll be more than happy to run ourselves around with other bits of speculation on self-guided assignments.

Thank you. I should clarify that I'm not in any danger, but in the past two weeks, I've had this weird flare up with my knee -- strange muscle spasms that occur when I lie down and prevent me from sleeping. This means the words I write for blogging frequently don't line up in any kind of sensible order, which is bad.

Sleeping is important! So are knees, actually... Take care of yourself - and we'll comfort ourselves with the thought that you won't run out of Twilight or Narnia content as quickly. ;-)

What JenL said; you have no need to apologize to us for putting your health first! If need be, we'll resurrect old threads or what have you to get our Narnia/Twilight fix.

Sleep is one of the most vital things, it seems. (Says the person who's been lacking it lately.)

Anyway, if you don't have time, or you don't have spoons, or whatever, you just don't. That's nothing to be ashamed about.

Maybe this is a stupid thing to say (if so, sorry)

it takes a lot of time to craft one of these mega-posts that cover a chapter in-depth.

Have you considered shorter posts? Like, would it be possible to do half chapter Narnia posts so that the work you did in one week is now distributed over two? It slows down completion just as much as one full post every two weeks, but it does so without leaving to to scramble to find something else to fill the space with. Then again, maybe you wouldn't be scrambling, maybe you've got all kinds of things to fill the space with. I don't know.

Also maybe the half chapter posts would end up as long as the full chapter posts and it would end up with exactly as much work as you're doing now, and thus fail to accomplish anything.

Regardless, there's really no need to apologize. Do whatever is best for you.

I have, but the trouble with Narnia posts is that they are generally long because I descend into Rant Mode, and not so much because Lots Of Stuff Happens. Actually, at least with PC, it's really astonishing how little stuff happens. I had NO IDEA what I was going to say about the Marshals chapter until suddenly I was deeply irked by all the "Reepicheep is not tall enough" nonsense. But that's, like, the whole chapter. A 2,600 word chapter of nothing much happening. I'm gobsmacked.

Probably I'll end up interspersing with Little House posts, since I CAN just rant for three sentences and close that out, for reasons unknown to me.

I would much rather have a longer wait between posts and you feel better, Ana. Do what you have to do to keep yourself safe and we shall be patient ^^ Also I love the brief "Little House" posts, so I definitely wouldn't say no to you throwing a bunch of those in if you need to :)

Augh. Knee issues suck like an Orrick. You have my sympathy, and I pretty much read anything you want to put up here, so I'm cool.

I love it when you go off on a rant about Narnia.

But as others have already said: Take care of yourself, first. And unapologetically! You are more important than a thousand metaposts.

Take care of your knee. Hoping for a good night's sleep and pleasant dreams.
