Metapost: Current Comments... again

The "Current Comments" widget is stuck again so while I sort things out with Blogger and Disqus, I've added a "Disqus Comments" widget which will at least tell you who commented last and where. It just doesn't do the "smart filtering" to only show the most recent per active thread. Apologies.

So sometime between 3:21 and 7:08 AM*, the Blogger comments updated and then stopped again. *sigh* I was hopeful for a moment there.

*Eastern, which I just realised I forgot to specify. Luckily I have an edit button.

Whenever current comments goes wrong I feel like it's my fault. I'm the one who suggested the implementation currently in use. When it works I think that was a good suggestion, but it does seem to jam frequently.

Please don't feel bad. It is/was an excellent idea, as all the alternatives are too easy to "drown" out an active thread by a MORE active one when posts are flying. And there's no other way that I can see to keep up with all the conversations, except to have a zillion tabs open at all times. Just sometimes disqus and blogger hiccup a bit. For what it's worth, it looks like they're working again.

And that doesn't keep you in the loop with necromantic threads. The Current Comments widget helps me know which zillion tabs to keep open.

(Sometimes I'll refresh them all and find a bit that occurred an hour after I went to bed and was already more than twenty-five comments ago by the time I was on the computer again the next day. Especially on days when I'm busy all morning. (This is why I generally only close tabs for inactivity at the beginning of the day, so if I'm wrong I'm likely to be around to notice.))
