Metapost: New Template

Oh, hey, look at that. New template.

So here is a thing you need to know about me: I don't like change.

I don't. I don't like upgrading software. I don't enjoy switching from the familiar and old to the new and uncomfortable. I eat the same brands every day, and I wear the same clothes every week, and there's a joke in my family that Nissan is going to have to keep churning out old-models of my car because when it breaks down I want the same model. Change is not something I embrace.

But here is a new template. Not because I didn't like the old one but because I strongly believe that I need a change right now to communicate what I am doing here and why. So here is a new template.

It's still in work -- I have a list of about five more things that need to be tackled. But I think it's in a good place right now and ready to be used. Maybe in another few months or years it will be time to change again, but for right now I hope that everyone will enjoy this template.

Much thanks goes to Melissa McEwan at Shakesville for letting me copy her current template, to Clarissa Filice for her lovely artwork, and to Mohamed Lamine for his excellent coding skills.

That banner is beautiful. And I'll miss the old tagline, but after a bit of thought, I do see why you changed it. It probably will make the serious discussion you've been pushing for a bit easier to have.

Art is so awesome! I love it! (I generally hate change but in this case the new is sufficiently awesome to tip the balance to imediate love.)

Very nice. The colours especially are much more pleasant.

Lol, I didn't even notice the new template at first because I am so used to it from Shakesville! I like it - I find it easy to parse, visually (not that I had trouble with the old one), and the art is lovely!

Lovely! The artwork is wonderful, the overall feel is smooth, and "context matters" very much encapsulates what you do here. Brava to all!

(Also, if you weren't aware, the mobile version still displays the old tagline. Not that I mind, just to let you know!

Love the colors and the image, of a woman's legs in the forest, as if she's entering an adventure, and I do like the green.
As for the tag line, it does help steer the comments into a channel more fit for (semi-)serious discussion.
I admit the old one was more fun, oh well, c'est la vie.

Very pretty! And it managed to not break any of the things I already liked.

I also love the new tag line - more serious and less likely to strike someone as 'how about we just go totally of the rails and do some more reality-free speculating, whee!' than 'cheerfully reading too much into things.'

It looks good to me, so far. When I scroll down quickly, it gives me a clearer mark between one person's post and the next.

It's pretty! Is that little red riding hood in the banner?

Oh, I love the color scheme! I liked the old one, but this grey-tone greenish and reddish are very relaxing for my eyes.

And I agree, the banner is gorgeous!

The template is gone; long live the template.

Let me again say how much I like the new art. Ms Filice has skills.
