Storify: Disney Kisses

Storify is shutting down in May and has informed users that we have to migrate our content elsewhere if we wish to save it. This is one of my old threads.

Okay, and that's not even ALL THE DISNEY movies. I missed Monsters, Inc. for example and mostly stuck to animated over live action. Explain to me why ALL THE ABOVE is fine and dandy (and consensual, even!), but these are not. [Artist credit goes to José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros, and you can find more of those here on Google.]

If you're okay with all the Disney kisses EXCEPT a queer Disney kiss, you don't get to say you "don't hate queer people" or wev. You do.

This is the Disney we didn't get as queer children.

This is the Disney we STILL DON'T GET as queer adults.

These are the support characters we never see.

Don't tell me we should be content and satisfied when we can't even have HAPPY queer villains.

In case you missed it, I'll drop my gay LeFou / Beauty and the Beast thread here. [This is another Storify to be posted later.]

But don't you EVER tell me you don't want to see queer kisses in a Disney movie. You showing your kid straight kisses on UNCONSCIOUS GIRLS. A happy consensual enthusiastic queer kiss is a whole new world better than a sleeping girl or a girl with mace in her hand.

I leave you with this.

-----------
Because someone asked:

@lawduckfan: Isn't there a middle ground between "hates queer people" and "doesn't want gay children's characters"?

Nope.

-----------
Note regarding the Winnie the Pooh image:

@quadz08: Okay this whole thread is great and read it but totally tangential question: am I the only one who read Rabbit as male?

They're both canonically male. But my point is: why is m/m play-tackling okay but not m/m sexy cuddles?

-----------
An addendum on Zeus / Triton:

Breaking this down because I am tired. I have maybe two dozen people in my mentions losing their shit over this Zeus / Triton pairing.

Ya didn't lose your shit over brother Zeus and sister Hera. Full-blooded siblings.

You didn't lose your shit over uncle Hades and niece Persephone in THE LIGHTNING THIEF.

I need you to STOP, drop the KEYBOARD, and THINK about why you got no problem with godly straight incest but godly queer incest is gross. I need you to understand that your "ew" impulse is PART OF THE PROBLEM: the hypersexualization of queers.

You don't look at Hera / Zeus in HERCULES and think "they're fucking!" but you look at Zeus / Triton kissing and your brain goes to fucking. Nothing in that Zeus / Triton picture even suggests fucking, but Hera / Zeus had a baby which strongly implies fucking.

We see Hera/Zeus as normal--invisible, even--and not inherently sexual. But an m/m pair kiss? Minds go straight to sex. That's the problem. If you see an m/m kiss and immediately think about fucking, you're part of the same problem that brought us here with the LeFou thing.

Queer-haters see a single gay kiss as "sexual" because they sexualize us. Our entire culture does. We're out here fighting that. So I would VERY MUCH appreciate it if people wouldn't turn a sweet m/m kiss into "ew, they're fucking" in my mentions!

I don't need apologies for this, by the way; I understand it's pervasive and I know why we screw this up. I get it. I'm not mad! I just... need people to stop, because it's missing the point of my entire thread and that kinda hurts my heart. Thank you!

Also, I apologize for being bitchy about this; it took me awhile to verbalize why it was getting to me so hard. I'm just... not here for the hyper-sexualization of queer men. From ANY side of the fence. Thanks!
