Via Books on the Knob.
I don't have a Kindle; the B&N nook and Sony lineups are my weapons of choice, but this deal is too juicy to not pass along, so reblogged.

Is this today only, or ... what? I guess the alternative is "What?"
Also, I have noticed that Hierarchical History seems to have switched from grouping by month to grouping by day. Um... what's up with that?
I don't know that they've released a time period. I would guess at least a week or more.
I will note that, um, if you're in to DRM removal, for example if you plan to live in a country where that is considered legal and fair use, Amazon is one of the hardest stores to remove DRM on account that they keep changing it. Or so I've read. B&N uses a social DRM scheme that is much easier to load and open on third party readers like Aldiko.
I thought the hierarchical history was very bulky with the full month view. Did you like it better before? It's a one click change, real easy.
It does make it less likely that the post you're using to check for posts too new for the RSS feed to have noticed will show the correct section by default, which is much more annoying at the moment as the triangles that open and close the sections don't appear to be working.
My birthday is on the third, so there's a chance, probably rather slim, that I could scrape together the funds to take advantage of this deal, if it's still around after I've had a chance to talk to people. (And if I qualify for an Amazon Reward Visa and can jump through those hoops in time.)

In general I always like things better the way they were, because I'm not big into change, so basing decisions on my immediate reaction may not be the best idea.
That said, I did find having the bulk there kind of useful. If there was a recent post I'd lost the link to I could be reasonably sure to find a link in no clicks or one click because it would probably be in the same month as the post I was looking at or the next month over.
I guess it's in week mode now, which does chop things into more manageable portions (looks like about 10ish per week) but it also loses that, "The post you're looking for is probably a click or two away," usefulness I just mentioned.
I'm not sure that you should base a decision on my thoughts though. First, I'm just one person. Second, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to, lately I rely a lot more on recent rambles and current comments for what I'd previously primarily used it for.
If you like it better this way, I'm not going to argue, and if you want to know the thoughts of the commentariat, perhaps a metapost is in order.
It sounds like two votes in favor of the older way, and I don't mind. I just always worry about the pages being "too long" for people. :)
Also, for what it's worth, some of the people on the Books on the Knob post were able to get the deal WITHOUT having to have an Amazon Visa.
The triangles still aren't working. Don't know why. Works just fine in Opera, so if I really want to go looking at other sections I still can.
In Firefox they're not working? Or IE? :(
Firefox. I don't have IE at the moment (Linux), and I only ever use IE to download Firefox onto a new Windows computer anyway.
I'm using Firefox 14.0.1 at the moment and they are behaving, but I know that's cold comfort. I'm sorry.
